Weekly 360 and Wii Downloads: Yummy, Yummy Yummy I Got Love in My Tummy

Nov. 10 5:02 PM by coloradojoe1

A picture of Homer Simpson stuffing his face would have been a much more appropriate picture considering the title of this post but since receiving multiple emails from Matt Groening threatening to sue me if I don't "cease and desist using his intellectual property without permission", I thought I'd put up a pic of an actual game instead.

Not that you can really blame me for the crazy title. When one of the games available for download this week is "Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam" (1,000 Wii Points) and you've seen every episode of The Simpsons, you just can't help yourself. What else can Wii owners pick up today? "Brain Challenge" (1,000 points) and "Mega Man 3" (500 points).

Normally this is the place where I'd tell you about the XBLA game/s of the week but my MS contact has been surprisingly tight lipped. I do have some information but she swore me to secrecy, and if I tell you what I know without permission she'll shave my eyebrows off.

Look for a post on what new content you can expect to see on XBLA as soon as my virtual hands have been virtually unhandcuffed. In the meantime, hit the jump for all the details on the Wii downloadables.

Tetris Party - Review

Nov. 4 9:59 AM by evildeathsyth

Tetris party brings you back to that classic time of the Gameboy. Its green/black scale with wonderful music swept the nation as well as our hearts. Well Tetris is back and this time it is going full force on WiiWare. But with the Wii having such a small space to put your downloadable titles on, it's time to clear off some space to make sure this gem fits. You won't regret it. Tetris Party brings all the things you would want out of a Tetris game to the Wii with some nice added modes.

Weekly 360 and Wii Downloads: Portal, Tetris, Mega Man 9 DLC

Oct. 20 3:52 PM by coloradojoe1

You already know that Portal is going to be available on XBLA on Wednesday, but that doesn't mean there aren't any other games you shouldn't take a look at. Available for the Wii right now is "Tetris Party" (1200 Wii points), "The Incredible Maze" (500pts), "Digital Champ Battle Boxing" (700pts) and "Gradius II Gofer No Yabou" (whatever that means) for 900 points.

So what about PS3 gamers? As usual, you won't be getting much. But at least you can get some DLC for Mega Man 9. What is it? Something to make the game EVEN HARDER. Just what MM9 fans needed, kind of like pouring lemon juice on a papercut. Hit the jump for all details.

Autumn of Arcade - XBLA had its 5 week Summer of Arcade, and now GP Arcade is having its next contest, the "Autumn of Arcade". Next week we'll be giving away three 1600MS point cards. The week after that three 1000 Wii point cards and then we'll wrap things up with three $20 PSN cards.

How do you win? Well, I haven't really decided yet. But if you have any ideas, feel free to put them in the comments of any post this week.

Review: Strong Badia the Free

Sep. 15 12:03 PM by coloradojoe1

The Strong Bad video game quintuplegy got off with a Coach Z starter gun bang last month with the very excellent first episode, Homestar Ruiner. Of course the problem with a strong start are high, sometimes unrealistic, expectations which are never easy to meet once the new game smell of the original has worn off. It's a problem seen not just in games but in other mediums as well. You know you never looked at Neo, Trinity and Morpheus the same after the first Matrix movie and chances are if you ever bumped into George Lucas, you'd ask him if he lost his mind after the first three Star Wars films.

But judging from the second episode of "Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People," the creative team from Homestar Runner won't suffer from a sophomore slump. In fact this episode, Strong Badia the Free, is even better than the first with a stronger storyline, cleaner dialogue and even more great one-liners.
