You already know that Portal is going to be available on XBLA on Wednesday, but that doesn't mean there aren't any other games you shouldn't take a look at. Available for the Wii right now is "Tetris Party" (1200 Wii points), "The Incredible Maze" (500pts), "Digital Champ Battle Boxing" (700pts) and "Gradius II Gofer No Yabou" (whatever that means) for 900 points.
So what about PS3 gamers? As usual, you won't be getting much. But at least you can get some DLC for Mega Man 9. What is it? Something to make the game EVEN HARDER. Just what MM9 fans needed, kind of like pouring lemon juice on a papercut. Hit the jump for all details.
Another week, another handful of downloadable titles looking for love. On the Wii gamers can pick up the awesomely titled "World of Goo" (1,500 Wii points) along with "Art Style: Cubello" (600pts), "Secret of Mana" (800pts) and "Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition" (800pts). Autumn of Arcade - XBLA had its 5 week Summer of Arcade, and now GP Arcade is having its next contest, the "Autumn of Arcade". Starting next week (yeah, I know I said I'd have a contest running this week but there's just too many contests running on GP right now) and running for 3 weeks GamePro Arcade will be giving away three $20 point cards a week. Next week we'll be giving away three 1600MS point cards. The week after that three 1000 Wii point cards and then we'll wrap things up with three $20 PSN cards.
How do you win? Well, I haven't really decided yet. But if you have any ideas, feel free to put them in the comments of any post this week.
There's plenty of choices if you're looking for a downloadable game this week. Wii owners can download four, yes four, different titles with the N64 version of Mario Golf leading the way. XBLA gamers get stickball (huh?) and PSN gamers get...well, what they usually get every week. Not much.
Read on for all the details.
Looks likes this is the week for arcade gamers to blow crap up. The highlight of this week's downloadable offerings are "Bomberman Blast" on the Wii and "War World" on XBLA. Hit the jump for all the details.
On a completely seperate note, many of you probably had trouble getting on GamePro.com earlier today because the site was hit pretty heavy as gamers were looking to grab a "Little Big Planet" beta code. Just so you know, I'll be giving out a few codes on GamePro Arcade as well. Look for a post about it on Wednesday.
Editor's Note: Oops, with Mega Man 9's release on the Wii last week, I forgot about its debut on XBLA this Wednesday. The info is below.
Who does #2 work for? - PC and Wii gamers get the best download of the week, Strong Badia the Free (episode 2), which was made available today. To check out the review I posted this afternoon, click here.

Aside from "Strong Badia the Free", Wii gamers can also pick up "Potpourri" (800 Wii pts) and Mega Man 2 (500pts).

You better jam in as many BBQ's and visits to the neighborhood ice cream truck while you can, summer is just about over. How can you tell? Microsoft's Summer of Arcade program comes to and end this Wednesday with its final XBLA release of the season, Castle Crashers (1200MS Points/$15). Not a bad way to go out.
Today on the Wii gamers can pick up Helix (1,000 Wii Points), Ys Book I & II (800 pts) and Samurai Shodown 2 (900 pts). Read on for all the details.
Its the end of July and The Summer of Arcade has started on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Summer might have started a little late in Redmond but at least Microsoft is giving gamers a chance to win some prizes. The Summer of Arcade sweepstakes starts this week with the release of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 and continues through September 2 with Castle Crashers. Up for grabs? Tons of freebie MS points, 12 month Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions and an Xbox 360 Elite console. All you have to do to enter is play full or trial versions of new XBLA releases over the next 5 weeks. Read on for all the details and to see what the Wii is offering up this week.
Ouch! My frickin' head hurts. I still have an E3 hangover. And if you thought E3 2008 news was over, you're sadly mistaken. Coming later this week - interviews with Adam Sessler and Geoff Keighley and a few sure fire ways to make E3 less sucky. In the meantime, read on to find out what downloadable games you can get this week.
There are a huge number of great downloadable games available for all three major platforms, but these titles are not as popular as traditional releases. Compared to retail products, there is little buzz for games on the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Wii Channel. For example, with more than 12 million 360's sold this generation, it is astonishing how few downloads occur. Sales figures are not readily available, but for example, in the first week of sales, the top selling XBLA rhythm shooter, Rez, had only 25k downloads! Here are a few ideas to enhance the success of downloadable games:
1. Make the purchasing process painless: Microsoft point conversions confuse the consumer and do not have any benefit. Why can't Rock Band songs just be $1.99 instead of 250 points like they are on the PSN? A simple one-to-one conversion is the easiest way for consumers to make a well-informed purchase.
2. More advertising: Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony need to take it upon themselves and advertise downloadable games in magazines, online and television, similar to what we see with AAA releases like Halo, Metal Gear Solid and Super Smash Bros.
