Weekly 360 and Wii Downloads: Yummy, Yummy Yummy I Got Love in My Tummy

Nov. 10 5:02 PM by coloradojoe1

A picture of Homer Simpson stuffing his face would have been a much more appropriate picture considering the title of this post but since receiving multiple emails from Matt Groening threatening to sue me if I don't "cease and desist using his intellectual property without permission", I thought I'd put up a pic of an actual game instead.

Not that you can really blame me for the crazy title. When one of the games available for download this week is "Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam" (1,000 Wii Points) and you've seen every episode of The Simpsons, you just can't help yourself. What else can Wii owners pick up today? "Brain Challenge" (1,000 points) and "Mega Man 3" (500 points).

Normally this is the place where I'd tell you about the XBLA game/s of the week but my MS contact has been surprisingly tight lipped. I do have some information but she swore me to secrecy, and if I tell you what I know without permission she'll shave my eyebrows off.

Look for a post on what new content you can expect to see on XBLA as soon as my virtual hands have been virtually unhandcuffed. In the meantime, hit the jump for all the details on the Wii downloadables.

AC/DC Joins Rock Band, Autumn of Arcade Wii Point Winners

Nov. 2 5:41 PM by coloradojoe1

Starting today can gamers pick up the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack. I know what you're thinking..."Awesome! I love AC/DC and they rock! Now I actually have an excuse to wear that school boy outfit I bought 2 months ago." True, true but this isn't as cool as it sounds. First of all, the 18 live song disc is going to set you back 40 clams. 40 clams!. Even worse, you have to go to Wal-Mart to pick it up. That's the ONLY place you can get it. You can't download it, you can't go to the more convenient Best Buy or the much cleaner Target, its The Mart or nothing (okay, you CAN get it at Sam's Club but its all the same evil corporation). I'm curious to see how well this sells. Read the press release for all the details.

On a brighter note, the three 2000 Wii Point card winners are listed below. Congrats! Log in to GamePro.com tomorrow and look for a PM with your code. The final week of GamePro Arcade's Autumn of Arcade starts later this evening. Look for a post on it in a few hours.

Wii Point card winners: GEMPadre036, Joey_V5, ShortHairedOffender

But don't forget about "Earthworm Jim" (800Wii points) and "Art Style: ROTOHEX" (600Wii points) and "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader: Make the Grade" (1200MS points, redneck humor included).

Weekly 360 and Wii Downloads: Portal, Tetris, Mega Man 9 DLC

Oct. 20 3:52 PM by coloradojoe1

You already know that Portal is going to be available on XBLA on Wednesday, but that doesn't mean there aren't any other games you shouldn't take a look at. Available for the Wii right now is "Tetris Party" (1200 Wii points), "The Incredible Maze" (500pts), "Digital Champ Battle Boxing" (700pts) and "Gradius II Gofer No Yabou" (whatever that means) for 900 points.

So what about PS3 gamers? As usual, you won't be getting much. But at least you can get some DLC for Mega Man 9. What is it? Something to make the game EVEN HARDER. Just what MM9 fans needed, kind of like pouring lemon juice on a papercut. Hit the jump for all details.

Top 5 Worst Movies Based on Video Games

Sep. 7 8:12 PM by coloradojoe1

Hollywood and gaming have always had a tumultuous history. The movie industry treats the gaming industry just like it does everything else - if its hot, they try to make a film, and a quick buck, by turning gamers favorite titles into movies. The early results were terrifying and some films were so bad that the concept of the video game movie almost went the way of Britney Spears sanity. Not that this has discouraged Hollywood in the least. Trying to find a good game-to-movie adaptation is like trying to find a booth babe at E3, very hard to do. In order to save you a rental fee and 2 hours of you life, here are the top 5 biggest offenders you need to avoid.
