Kongai is a collectible card game developed by Kongregate, with game design by renowned designer David Sirlin. Featuring 45 cards to collect with more on the way, the ability to build decks to use in multiplayer battles chose from numerous characters and attributes to equip them wish to dish out some pain and you have yourself an online card game that should keep you coming back for more.
Unfortunately, card games are not all the rage they use to be. With "Pokémon" and "Yu Ghi Oh" are still dominating the kid market. Games like "Magic: the Gathering" and the newly released "Eye of Judgment" for the PS3 starting to kick off in the hardcore area it is really tuff for a new card game to come into the ring. The good thing about this title is of course that it is free and you don't really have to have any cards what so ever. It is all digitalized under your log in name, so acquiring new cards won't hurt your wallet or your mind trying to collect them all. In fact you collect the cards by simply beating down your opponent an there is a chance you will receive a new card, otherwise you complete challenges in order to receive cards.
The overall gameplay consist of a three different gameplay modes: 3vs3, 5vs5, and 5vs5 with items. The player chooses his deck and the match begins. Each character has a health bar set at 100, and 4 unique abilities. Within your deck of 3 or 5 characters, only 1 is active at any given time. All characters replenish 20 energy at the end of each turn, and inactive characters recover 1 health. Each character also has an innate passive ability, explained on the individual cards. When a character reaches 0 for his life gauge that character is out for the rest of the game. Attacking has some options as well with there being two different ranges that a player can be. The game starts you with close range but some attacks need to be executed from long range, while many can be performed at both just one may be stronger than the other. Now in when executing these two functions you are using up a turn phase, you first select how you want to be positioned and you opponent does the same so if you both choose close range you both will move forward together. You then execute the action stage and of course you then your opponent will have a chance to attack. Also during the combat phase, each player can choose to use 1 of their active character's 4 abilities. There are a number of other rules delegated to this card game which you can find here at the Rule sheet. Of course all of this can be played in a single player practice mode or played online against the community as well as your friends.
So overall, Kongai is a fun game if you're not looking to spend a lot money, effort and time into the other card games or you want something new to play with you and your friends. This has a decent community for it as well as a good chat system which allows you to communicate with the players online in order to see how everyone is doing or if maybe you had a question about a character or ability. But for a free online flash game this isnt something you want to just pass up. It make take some time at first to get all the rules down but once you do you can have a good time playing this on occasion. You can play this title for free on Kongregate's website http://www.kongregate.com/
